BCYSL SP2020 Travel Soccer Season Cancelled
To All BCYSL Members,

I hope this finds everyone well and enjoying the additional time with their families.
On behalf of the Berkshire County Youth Soccer League Board of Directors, I unfortunately need to announce the cancellation of our spring schedule. After much consideration and numerous meetings with the Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association (MYSA) and with other league presidents across the state, it has become clear that this decision is in the best interest of the wellness of all players, coaches, referees, families and spectators. With the recent announcement from Governor Baker about the closing of school for the remainder of the year and with many local agencies closing fields, it makes the most sense at this stage to cancel our spring schedule. After a discussion with MYSA this past Saturday morning, it is apparent that we may still be weeks, if not months, away from a return to regular soccer activities.

The BCYSL board is committed to help find a way to get players back on the field as soon as it is safe and regulations allow for it. We will continue to work with MYSA and other leagues to provide potential playing options as bans are lifted. The MYSA website provides frequent updates on the evolving situation with the Coronavirus, and they also provide number of resources for players, parents, coaches and referees while we continue to live in a remote environment. Each club will be responsible for reaching out to their membership with information on reimbursement for the spring season.

On a side note, due to school closings and delays in receiving transcripts. The BCYSL has extended its deadline for 2020 scholarships, open to any high school senior, to June 1. Application forms can be found on the league website.

The BHYSC fosters opportunities through the game of soccer for everyone involved to develop a love of the game and the values, habits and skills essential to growth as individuals and contributing members of a community.

BHYSC offers two unique and separate programs for children who live in the towns of Great Barrington, Stockbridge, West Stockbridge, Richmond and Lee. Our programs are also available to children who attend a school in these towns.

The BHYSC HOUSE Program is a fall only instructional program. HOUSE is for children in grades Pre-K to 4th. Basic skills, familiarity with the ball and fun are this programs focus. HOUSE runs in the fall season only.

BHYSC also participates in a county wide TRAVEL League. The Berkshire County Youth Soccer League (BCYSL) organizes and administers youth soccer play for towns from Sheffield to Williamsontown. TRAVEL League play is more intense instruction and competitive games are played. BCYSL has strict guidelines that most be followed by all participating town clubs, coaches, players and families.

It is the mission of the Berkshire Hills Youth Soccer Club to give every child the opportunity to participate. If the player fee posts a financial hardship for your family, financial assistance is available. Please email: berkshirehillssoccer@gmail.com.

The entire BHYSC is run by volunteers.
